WRLtd Iceland Mapping already being used to argue for undergrounding cross-Iceland power cable.

The report authored by WRLtd and colleagues in Iceland is already being used to support arguments on how to design a proposed cross-Iceland powerline. In March this year, WRLtd launched a report on mapping wilderness in the Central Highlands that recommended 17 different wilderness areas in the region. A recent report by Félagslög SUNN, Association for Nature Conservation in the North makes use of our mapping to raise “serious comments on the environmental assessment report” by the Icelandic power company Landsnet citing impacts of overhead powerlines on wilderness quality and landscape value. SUNN’s report can be seen here.
